Customer Reviews

In my line of work (rental unit rehab)I sometimes have to do larger-scale drywall removal. If I have to take out a larger section of drywall (say, 10 by 8 feet), this is my tool of choice.
When it comes to using reciprocating saws for this type of work, I prefer cordless saws over corded ones. I do have a nice Ridgid corded reciprocating saw but only use it for heavier work (cutting through wall studs and the like). I don't need a lot of power to do drywall removal, so this Ryobi is my go-to tool in that department. It's light, but sturdy and well-built, as Ryobi cordless tools usually are. It runs for an adequate length of time on one 18v ONE+ battery charge (not included) for me to get any kind of drywall job I am likely to do in my line of work. And it works great for my purposes - it tears through drywall like a hot knife through butter.
If you're looking for a light-duty reciprocating saw for occasional use, I recommend this one highly. I would look elsewhere if you're looking for a heavy-duty cordless saw, however.

I will be the first to admit that I am not a huge fan of ryobi power tools. Like many others, I only use ryobi as homeowner tools. I probably wouldn't ever use them as a professional unless I were in a pinch. However, I am a huge fan of the ryobi 18v impact driver and this reciprocating saw, both of which can be had without batteries for under $50 a piece if you look hard enough. I still wouldn't say that this reciprocating is "professional grade", but it is a very high quality tool. Between this, and the impact driver, and the very cheap batteries, I am very pleased with Ryobi power tools for around the house and light renovation projects. Saw works very well, is very cheap, and also very rugged....it has survived several falls onto concrete. You will not be disappointed with this saw.
