Bare-Tool DEWALT DW938B 18-Volt Reciprocating Saw (Tool Only, No Battery)

Product Description

Amazon.com Review
Delivering solid performance and serious convenience, DeWalt's heavy-duty, 18-volt reciprocating saw offers a keyless blade clamp for quick blade changes, a pivoting shoe with an open top for maximum visibility, a variable-speed trigger for blade control, and an electric brake. This is an accurate tool, and the grips--especially the front one--provide excellent user control. This reciprocating saw will reach up to 2,800 spm, and has a 7/8-inch stroke length. It weighs only 6.5 pounds, and because it's cordless, there simply isn't a better option for working in tight spaces or above your head. Please note that this purchase does not include a case or batteries. --Jonathon Tudor

Customer Reviews

What I like about this saw: 1) quick and easy blade change with the lift of a lever, 2) it has two slots for the blade at 90-degree angles to each other so you can put the blade in at four different angles, 3) its torque, and 4) cordless convenience.
What is potentially not so good is the cordless inconvenience. I have been doing home improvement projects so the battery life is not any kind of a problem - especially with the DeWalt 1-hour charger. I already had a DeWalt drill that came w/2 batteries and they seemed to last a long time, so I bought this 'bare bones' package. Contractors who would be using this saw for prolonged periods might have a different take on it. For an occasional user, it's a great saw for the money.

This is a nice unit and when paired with the new lithium ion batteries (not included), it can help you get those tough jobs done. I also purchase the set of 6 blades (3 metal, 3 wood ; metal). I am using it primarily to cut through heavy metal pipe and am very happy with the performance of the unit and the duration of the blades. The unit I received is made in Mexico.
