Customer Reviews

I read a lot of reviews on Milwaukee, DeWalt, Rigid ; others, but the Makita's stood above them all so I went with the JR3060T. It paid off! It's a bit on the heavy side (which makes those hard to reach jobs harder), but it won't let you down when it comes to power and smooth action. The tool-less blade locking mechanism is solid and easy to use as is the adjustable shoe. The variable speed is quite smooth and hopefully will outlast the Milwaukee and Craftsman saws I've used. I only used it a few times so far, but so far I'm quite happy with it.

Being a professional carpenter for over twenty years, I've used my share of reciprocating saws. This saw, hands down, cuts the smoothest! Plenty of power with a sense of control, it's hard not to like it.
Actually, I purchased this to replace the same make / model because someone liked it 'too much'. So having had this saw for a few years and using it, I wanted another when I needed to replace it.
The only con in it's use and construction that I've found is, if you wear heavy gloves (like in the Winter) and have larger hands, the D handle can be a little tight. This can cause a problem with the saw running on after you release the trigger for a few seconds or longer. It's something to consider and could be a safety hazard. Bare handed or thin gloves, not a problem. I don't think Makita factored in large bulky gloves in the ergonomics design and use.
Otherwise, if you're used to some older recip. saw that wants to bind and shake your arm off boy are you in for a treat! You'll smile the first time you use this, it cuts so smooth and fast! You'll wonder why you waited so long to replace or upgrade!
